We are very proud to announce that Materialise is involved in a humanitarian program to help seriously injured people in Iraq.
The project has been started by Fried Vancraen, President of Materialise. He has invited several leading companies in Rapid Prototyping to join forces and start up a project to make medical RP models available to Iraqi surgical teams in major trauma centers. Materialise will provide the medical software (Mimics) necessary to design and produce these models.
The first patient, a 42 year old man, who was suffering from several bullet wounds in the mandibular and neck region, has already been succesfully treated by this team of doctors including Dr. Ammar al-Jawadi, specialist maxillofacial surgeon and Dr. Hashim A. Samir, specialist diagnostic radiology.
